Welcome! π
How's everyone doing today? I hope you all had a productive week and are enjoying a relaxing weekend! If you're like me and find yourself needing to play a bit of catch-up this weekend on various projects, I hope you space out that computer work with some time outside, reading a good book, playing video games, or whatever refills your mental, physical, and emotional energy buckets.
This week's issue of DevRel Weekly circles around content and metrics, with a few extra tidbits thrown in. Find it helpful? Let me know!
Best,

Tidbits π
Establish Regular Checkins with your Team
Community team check-ins are vital - giving everyone a heads up on potential issues, reflecting on challenges, checking team priorities, planning ahead, and putting organisational updates into context.
Clearly Define your Offerings
Confused offerings lead to confused members. Clearly define what you are offering to anyone joining your community so that they know what to expect and what to do once in it. In the end, they are the only ones who know whether they want it.
It can be a chance to interact with a group of industry experts, a collection of informational content or any other valuable resource that you think your audience is actually looking for. Eliminate confusion. Introduce purpose.
Easy & Effective Habits
Easy and effective community building habits you can start today:
- Make one personal introduction every day
- Post one discussion starter every day
- Do a 1-1 call with a member every week
- DM and thank one member every day
- Reply to one post with a quality answer every day

Community Architecture: Build it Right, and They Will Come
Designing your community architecture isn't all that different from designing a physical structure, which Noele Flowers makes clear in this recent article. In it, she explains what community architecture is, how you want content to shape the space, and how to scale once you've got traction.
Community Content 101: The Community Leaderβs Guide
Struggling to decide whether a video, a blogpost, or a conference talk is the right way to present your latest project? This article from Waves breaks down what successful content is and how to make sure your content is effective.
Measuring Up: Metrics in Developer Relations
Metrics has been the biggest question mark for DevRel practitioners since the beginning. There's a lot of content about it, but not all of it is practical or actionable. Lucky for us, this piece from PJ Hagerty is both! I especially appreciate the closing paragraph:
We can get to a better place by measuring the things that matter. We can learn to build OKRs and KPIs that service our communities and our products and companies without compromising by using metrics built for teams that do other things. Define what you believe success is and it will be easier to find ways to measure it.
