Welcome! π
Happy DevRel Weekly Day, everyone! Hope your week is going well and you're enjoying this "Hump Day" (or perhaps you're over the hump already!).
I'll be flying down to LA to attend SCaLE today. If you'll be there, please be sure to reach out (or swing by the Camunda booth during the conference). I'd love to see you in person!
In the meantime, enjoy the fantastic content from this week and be sure to fill out the latest Developer Relations Survey released by the team at Revere Communications.

Build the Community? Or the Forum?
Some weekend #DevRel musings -
Can you build a community? or does the community first exist, and then you build the communication forum around it?I often make the point myself when others bring up "it's our community" that there's a big difference between an Audience and a Community
Resist the Urge
Dear #CommunityManager and #moderator, always resist the urge to work on too many projects at the same time.
Every project requires quality time from you so stop giving out half-baked services cos of some $$$.
Respect your agreement. 2-3 projects are OK.

User Preferences Can Change
User preferences can change due to various factors β time of the year, global events, festivals, etc. If a strategy shows good results today, there's no guarantee it will do the same after a month. Identifying the real reason of success & failure is key to growth
Adjust content according to your community
1. Experiment a mix of different formats that are relevant to your members & brand - images, video, documents, text
2. Use multiple types of content - guides, memes, polls
3. Observe what works when to identify what your users like

Tangibles π€
DevRel is the Punk Rock of Tech
Have you ever considered DevRel to be "punk"? If not, this blogpost from PJ Hagerty might convince you otherwise! π As he points out, similar to punk rock bands from the 90s, "their fans, their community, was what they cared for above all else."
Bill Nye, the DevRel Guy
Looking for tips on how to make your videos (or talks) more engaging? Shawn Wang recently talked to Justin Garrison about his video content strategy, which includes a lot of props.

Cultivating Careers, Communities and Companies with Open Source
If you're working in open source, you're likely aware that it takes an additional set of skills to create, maintain, and grow a successful open source project. JJ Asghar walks through some of the soft (or "glue") skills required to be successful in this recent blogpost.
