Whew! Happy... Wednesday?! Somehow, we're already halfway through this week! Apologies for the delayed issue this week -- I'm on my first business trip since March 2020 and my brain is a bit scrambled as a result 😅 Add on some good ol' jet lag and the excitement of hosting a conference and hopefully you can understand why things are a bit out of sync this week 🙃
The content I have in store for you isn't out of sync, however! It's spot-on in so many ways, as y'all keep delivering on the fantastic links as well as insights.
Speaking of insights... the latest DevRel industry survey is available for you to participate in. As you all know, gathering (and subsequently publishing) this information is incredibly important as the DevRel industry continues to mature. If you haven't already, please take the time to fill it out, and spread the word to others!
Go ahead - do it now! I'll wait...
Back? Great! Let's dig into this week's content.

How to Create Inclusive Business Goals for your Community
When looking ahead to goals for 2022, be sure to pay attention to what your company goals are (y'all know I feel strongly about this!) but also, think about how you can integrate inclusivity into those goals. Ashleigh Brookshaw offers some good tips in this recent interview.
Slow Declines Are Far More Worrying Than Sudden Drops
If you're analyzing engagement metrics on your online forums, keep an eye out for the "slow decline." While we often dig into the sudden spikes or cliff-edge drops, we don't always investigate a slow decline until we realize we're far below our engagement from last year. Richard Millington gives a few tips on how to keep an eye out for this reduced engagement, as well as how to turn it around in this recent article.
In the News...
I had the honor of speaking to two different journalists in the past few weeks about the value of Developer Relations and how it fits into the broader tech industry. Several other prominent DevRel professionals (including Lorna Mitchell!) bring their perspectives as well. Take a look here:
